    May 21 @ 7:30pm | Enigma Amphitheatre

    Outdoors and overlooking the bay, Award-winning fiddler and singer-songwriter Henley captures the heartbeat of Sephardic life and music, fusing Ladino and Hebrew with touches of Arabic, Turkish, and Persian. She is accompanied by Duncan Wickel on vocals, cello, and guitar.

  • The Future of University Education – Keynote Conversation with Dr. Peter Salovey and Rabbi Meir Soloveichik

    Are Universities still revered institutes of study, research, and discourse, and how will they be in the future? Former Yale President and Professor of Psychology Peter Salovey who coined the term “Emotional Intelligence,” joins esteemed Rabbi Meir Soloveichik of Yeshiva University known for podcasts Bible 365 and Jerusalem 365 for a lively conversation moderated by author and UCSD Professor of Physics, Brian Keating.

  • 24th Klezmer Summit – Brothers in Harmony

    June 8 @ 7:00pm | First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Diego

    JFest’s yearly celebration with two fun and fiery segments opens with Yale Strom’s original cantata, Uncle Albert and Brother Franz, weaving together genres from classical to jazz to East European and performed by San Diego Pro Arte Voices under the direction of Dr. Patrick Walders. Then Hot Pstromi will explore the musical instersections of Jews and Roma of Eastern Europe. Yale is joined by Tripp Sprague, Fred Benedetti, Tyler Kreutel, Luke Little, and Elizabeth Schwartz plus 7-string guitarist Vadim Kolpakov. Virtuoso Kolpakov was featured as a musician and dancer with Madonna!

  • The Jewish Community of Syria Through the Generations

    An immersive experience of Syrian Jewish culture with a gourmet dinner, lively music, stories and history. Traditionally from Aleppo and Damascus, they remain one of the most fascinating communities that greatly value their culture and unique traditions. Featuring stories and history from educators Rachel Tawil Abraham and Dr. Mickey Abraham, Haia R’nana Bchiri, and musicians Fouad Sawa and Danny Myers.

  • Alex Edelman: What Are You Going To Do

    The latest work of one of the most critically hailed comedians of his generation. Alex Edelman is best known for solo shows blurring the line between his stand-up comedy roots and narrative-driven storytelling. His last offering, Just For Us, played more than 500 performances worldwide including on Broadway before premiering as an HBO original comedy special in April of 2024, earning him a place on the Time 100 list, a Tony Award, and an Emmy award. Edelman appeared in Jerry Seinfeld’s directorial debut for Netflix, Unfrosted.

  • The House of Cohen – A Tribute to Leonard Cohen

    Leonard Cohen was Perla Batalla’s friend, mentor, and longtime collaborator. In a beautiful performance which has toured the world, Grammy-nominated songstress Perla Batalla celebrates the man she knew; his music, poetry, and sly humor. Hallelujah!

    Broadway's greatest melodies take center stage in There's a Place for Us, a dazzling new musical revue honoring the legendary Jewish composers and lyricists who shaped the American musical theater. From Broadway’s Golden Age, with the contributions of the Gershwins, Irving Berlin and Richard Rodgers that uplifted a country at war— to the brilliance of Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim up to the contemporary genius of  Stephen Schwartz, this concert co-produced by JFest and CCAE Theatricals showcases the unforgettable music that has inspired generations of theatergoers.

    Through stirring performances and insightful narration, There's a Place for Us explores the cultural and historical impact of Jewish artists on Broadway, weaving together beloved songs from West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Funny Girl, South Pacific,  and many more. A tribute to resilience, creativity, and the power of storytelling, this production is a joyous and poignant celebration of the voices that still give Broadway its heart and soul.
